The Everest®scan System

The Everest®scan system has been developed by Breuckmann for the KaVo GmbH and is an itegral system component of the holistic process chain of the Everest®System used in the dental laboratory technology.

The overall Everest®System consists of the four system components of the digitising

and measuriung unit (Everest®scan), the Everest®software, the milling and polishing unit (Everest®engine) and the sinter unit (Everest®therm). All four units are perfectly unified into a holistic concept in accordance with the requirements of contemporary dental processing technology.

Digital 3D Precision in Dental Laboratory Technology

Objective of the Everest®scan is to assist in the production of individual and precisely fitting dental constructions such as inlays, onlays, crowns or bridges based on a virtual dental impression. To date, the virtual dental impression is generated by a three-dimensional capture of the positive copy of the set of teeth which is made by placing dental stone or gypsum into the negative of the dental constellation taken by a mushbite (i.e. by biting into a special elastic material or wax).

Measuring Principle

The exact 1:1 measuring and three-dimensional reproduction of the teeth model is accomplished by aid of the Everest®scan system, developed and manufactured by Breuckmann. Along with all other scanning products made by Breuckmann, the KaVo Everest scanner also operates on the basis of the fringe projection technique (patented miniature projection technique) in this application context in combination with a 1384 x 1036 MPixel high-resolution digital camera.

Using this technique allows to capture object details at an accuracy level of up to 20 μm. Owing to this very high precision to detail, the Everest®scan ranks among the first class systems with regard to feature accuracy in comparison with similar systems of this kind available on the market. Furthermore, the integrated turn/tilt unit allows for the automated all-around measurement of the object within a matter of seconds.
